Kai Nieminen (b. 1950) is a Finnish poet and translator, whose latest collection of poems Serious Poems came out in 1997. It was published last year in the United States in English. His output comprises fourteen collections of poems in all. Nieminen's poems have also been translated into Japanese, Estonian, Spanish and Russian. He has made Japanese culture accessible to Finnish readers with his fluent translations of Osamu Dazai, Yunichiro Tanizaki, Yasunari Kawabata, and others.
