nooteboomDutch novelist, poet, travel-writer, and essayist. Cees Nooteboom has been frequently mentioned as a candidate for the Nobel Prize in literature. Born in L'Aia in 1933, , he spends his existence travelling through Netherlands, Spain and Germany, making travelling his lifestyle. He is an author of novels, essays, poems, travel books, a translator of Spanish, Catalan, French and German poetry. Cees Nooteboom also translated theatre authors such as Tennessee Williams or Sean O'Casey. His style recalls essay-romances by J.L. Borges, and fascinates for the remembrance power and deep meditation on the human being and his life. He also published road books collecting thoughts and suggestions, recalled by his journeys to Bangkok and Santiago.
