TAKASHI TSUJII (Japan)

Takashi Tsujii was born in Tokyo in 1927. Poet and writer. Director of Japan P.E.N Club (Member of the International Committee), Member of the Board of The Japan Writer's Association. Graduate of the Economics Department of the University of Tokyo. Since publishing his first poem Futashika na Asa in 1955, he has published a number of novels, poetry anthologies and essays including Shizumeru Siro (novel), Kaze no Shogai(novel), and Watatsumi Trilogy (poetry anthology). Tsujii won the 23rd Jun Takami Prize for the poem Gunjo, Waga Mokushi in 1993, and also the 30th Junichiro Tanizaki Prize for the novel Niji no Misaki in 1994, and the 57th Noma Literary Prize for the novel Chichi no Shozo in 2004. Apart from literary work, he is also involved in the cultural exchange activities between Japan and China as Chairman of the Japan-China Cultural Exchange Association.
